Irina Zagata - classic manner with a modern vibe

Since I was young I have admired Renaissance-time artists: "When a man was able to be a painter, a sculptor, an architect and an engineer at the same time!"

Biography

                                                              Irina Žagata

          - Graduated the Latvian Medical Academy, Medical faculty on 1997.

          - Obtained ophthalmologist qualification on 2000 and have been practicing since that.

          - Graduated the Arts Department, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree of humanities in Arts on 2011.

          - Graduated Master’s studies at the Latvian University Physics and Math faculty on 2014.

As You may see, my first education is medical. I got medical education as an eye doctor, and I worked in this field for many years. As an ophthalmologist I worked in one of the best private clinics in Latvia, I assisted in surgeries and prepared patients to laser correction of vision, this is a kind of surgeries which allow the patients to get better vision without glasses.

But I always dreamed of being a painter and therefore I began to study art, both in an academic and in private studios.

I joined the academy and after four years full-time studies I got a bachelor's degree in visual arts.

After these studies for some years I improved my drawing skills in the private studio of Latvian famous artist and academic drawing teacher Lyudmila Perec

And for more than ten years, I attended private painting lessons of Professor Vladimir Kozin – man who for several decades from 1953 till 1989 was a lead of the painting department in Academy of Arts of Latvia.

Upon arrival in Israel, I was accredited by the professional committee of artists in the field of plastic arts: 12.05.2025. and received a certificate of recognition of professional activity, as a “particularly outstanding artist.”

My husband and I repatriated to Israel from Latvia in 2023. Since January 2025, we have been living here permanently. My husband is a scientist in the field of molecular biology, but I dream of professional integration as an artist here in Israel.

I hope that the paintings you purchase will bring you joy and a pleasant feeling of peace and beauty.
